Is there anything more satisfying on a hot summer day than a cold and effervescent spritz? Light on the palate and oh-so sessionable, it’s obvious why they’re a hit this time of year. The possibilities for making a patio-perfect spritz are endless, and we’re here to share three of our favourites. Without further ado, let’s dive in!

Classic – Sunset Spritz

If you’re looking for a subtle twist on the Italian aperitivo experience, the Sunset Spritz is for you! @whitekitchen_redwine adds botanical complexity through our Empress Indigo Gin to complement the bittersweet orange notes of the Aperol. Made refreshing with lively sparkling wine, it’s bound to hit the spot for happy hour!

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
  • 2 oz Aperol
  • 3 oz Prosecco (or club soda)
  • Orange & Lemon Slices, for garnish
  • Edible Flowers, for garnish
METHOD

Fill a glass with crushed ice. Add slices of fresh orange and lemon to the glass. Pour in the Aperol. Add Empress 1908 Indigo Gin, and top with Prosecco. Garnish with edible flowers. Enjoy!

Fruity & Citrusy – Summer Garden Limoncello Spritz

Remember the Limoncello Spritz from last year? @the.boozy.ginger is back with an upgrade in this delectable medley of berries, citrus, and florals! With vibes of strawberry lemonade, this spritz is definitely a crowdpleaser.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 oz Empress 1908 Elderflower Rose Gin
  • 1 oz Limoncello
  • ½ oz Strawberry Syrup
  • 1 oz Club Soda
  • 2 oz Prosecco
  • Strawberry and Lemon Slice, for garnish
METHOD

Build ingredients in an ice-filled glass and top with a float of Empress Elderflower Rose Gin. Garnish with a strawberry and lemon slice.

Herbal & Floral – Hugo Twist

What do you get when you marry together the Hugo Spritz and a French 75? The result is certainly greater than the sum of its parts! The fragrant mint pairs beautifully with the elderflower sweetness to make for a cocktail that screams “summer elegance.” Bolstered by the crisp botanicals of our Empress Cucumber Lemon Gin, it’s a lush garden in a glass!

INGREDIENTS
  • 1½ oz Empress 1908 Cucumber Lemon Gin
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¾ oz Elderflower Liqueur
  • ¼ oz Simple Syrup
  • 6 Mint Leaves, plus more for garnish
  • Sparkling Wine, to top
  • Soda Water, to top
  • Edible Flowers, for garnish
METHOD

Shake ingredients except for sparkling wine and soda water on ice and fine-strain into a wine goblet filled with ice. Top with sparkling wine and a splash of soda water and garnish with more mint leaves and edible flowers. Enjoy!
