World Gin Day 2021

Celebrate World Gin Day with Empress 1908!

We can’t think of a better occasion for a cocktail than World Gin Day! Read below to learn more about the spirit of gin, and discover some of our favourite recipes created for the celebration.

Known for its bold, botanical palate and variety of unique flavours, gin has been distilled since the early 17th century. Over the years, distillers around the world have transformed gin into a complex spirit with countless unique botanical recipes. Aside from the essential juniper berry, our Empress 1908 features an array of both traditional and modern ingredients. From grapefruit peel, coriander seed, cinnamon bark, and ginger root, to rose petals, black tea and butterfly pea blossoms, there’s so much to uncover!

Once cocktails gained popularity in the 1850’s, gin became a staple behind many North American bars. Countless celebrated gin cocktails followed: the Gimlet in 1867, the Tom Collins in 1874 and the Ramos Fizz in 1888, just to name a few! Thanks to mixologists and home bartenders alike, gin has stayed in the spotlight for centuries. We’re never short on ‘ginspiration’ due to this history of daring & delicious creations!

This year, we asked 15 mixologists, foodies & photographers around the world to help us toast to this beloved spirit. From classic cocktails like the ‘Bees Knees’ to contemporary creations like the ‘Blueberry Snowstorm’, these drinks bring out the best in Empress 1908. Whether you’re a new or a long-standing fan of the liquor, we invite you to join us in a celebratory ‘cheers’!
